Reclaiming the Piazza

As a Latin teacher in an inner-city London state school, I frequently come across raised eyebrows when telling people about my job.

On September 2 2022. the Rome launch of Reclaiming the Piazza III took place in the Paul VI Audience Hall, Vatican City.

The University of Glasgow Launch of Reclaiming the Piazza on 18 May was a great success.

A packed room heard inspirational talks from UoG Vice-Chancellor Anton Muscatelli, Ronnie Convery, Giovanna Eusebi and Marie McCoy. Roisìn Coll, Director of the St Andrew’s Foundation for Catholic Teacher Education chaired the session.

In Italy, many cities, towns and villages have a church as part of the chain of public buildings which surround the treasured public space known as the piazza.

This month Ronnie Convery and Leonardo Franchi give a summary of the aims of Reclaiming the Piazza.

This month we are delighted to welcome Philip Booth with his View from the Piazza on Economics. (Philip is Director of Catholic Mission and Professor of Finance, Public Policy and Ethics at St Mary’s University, London.)

In this month’s View from the Piazza we are delighted to present an article by Professor Tracey Rowland entitled ‘Ennobling Human Culture’.

The first View from the Piazza is by Archbishop Rino Fisichella (President, Pontifical Council for the Promotion of New Evangelisation). It is the Preface from Reclaiming the Piazza III: Communicating Catholic Culture, which is due for publication soon.
